A IN-PERSON Workshop
for all genres

Eleanor Whitney, a writer and educator with over twenty years of experience in marketing and community building, will help you connect with the vision, resources, and community you need to take the next step in your writing life and build an audience for your work.

--held at The Resort in Long Island City, Queens, NYC--

An in-person evening workshop for a small group of writers

The process of building a writing career that fits your life can feel confusing, intimidating, and isolating, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

In this engaging workshop, you will envision what success means to you, and make a plan to connect with your writing community. Learn to share your writing with the world in a way that feels sustainable and in line with your vision and values!

During this two-and-a-half hour workshop, alongside your fellow participants, you will create a vision mission statement and guiding ideas for your writing and craft a sustainable approach to developing an author platform.

NOTE: This workshop is open to writers at all phases of their writing and publishing journey, whether you are just beginning to pitch and publish, working on a book proposal or manuscript, or are actively publishing.

In this workshop, you will participate in exercises such as vision boarding, free writing, and group discussions, to explore the following questions…

01

How do I define what literary success looks like for me?

02

How do I find my community and readers?

03

How do I build a consistent, trustworthy voice, presence, and platform as an author?

04

How do I work within my unique resources and capacity?

Promote Your Book offers perspective, practical advice, and checklists for shepherding your new book into the wider world. Traditionally published, self-published, and hybrid authors alike will benefit from these accessible tools and frameworks. No matter what kind of book you've written or where you are in the writing or publishing process, you can always build a community of readers, strengthen your literary support system, and have fun doing it.

Combining her deep marketing and community-building knowledge, Whitney also interviews a variety of authors and publicists writing in different genres about what worked for them and what they learned the hard way. She walks readers through creating and executing a plan to promote their book on their own terms, with whatever resources and time they have available. She reminds us that publicity is a long game that you can begin well before your book is finished and continue long after its release.
